Dr Parvez Hassan
Dr. Parvez Hassan is the most renowned corporate lawyer of Pakistan and environmentalist of highest international recognition. He is the Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Founding Partner of Hassan & Hassan (Advocates). He holds a Doctor of Law from Harvard University; a Master of Law from Yale University; and a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts from Punjab University.
Dr. Hassan has been honoured with numerous national and international awards, including Global 500 Roll of Honor of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Elizabeth Haub Prize (1998). He has been recognized as one of the world leaders in Environmental Law. The 7th International Conference on Environmental Law – held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2003 – was held against the backdrop of ‘A Tribute to Parvez Hassan’. He received an Honorary Membership of IUCN – The World Conservation Union for ‘outstanding services to conservation of nature and natural resources’ in 2000.
Dr. Hassan is affiliated with various international and national organisations and has extensive affiliations to the Government of Pakistan. He has written numerous articles on law, environment and national affairs which have been published in various law journals and other publications in the U.S, Europe and Pakistan. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Asia Pacific Journal of Environmental Law and the Journal of Human Rights and the Environment.
