He is an Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan with over 22 years of experience in dispute resolution (litigation & arbitration), banking & finance, structuring, international business transactions, project financing, energy & power, tax, real estate, direct foreign investment, corporate & commercial, labour laws, accountability laws, white collar crimes, anti-money laundering and securities transactions.
Specifically, he has acted as buyer’s Counsel in the acquisition of shares of an Islamic Bank incorporated and operating in Pakistan. He acted as a counsel in a number of merger and takeover transactions of various listed entities. He negotiated, drafted and approved project agreements of cumulative capacity of almost 50 MW. He acted as developers’ counsel in a number of real estate projects (Malls and Housing Societies) each valuing over PKR 3 Billion in Lahore. He also acted as counsel for purchasers in the privatization of various State owned industrial units and enterprises. He advised clients in the acquisition of various licenses for the provision of telecommunication services. He has also been advising to members of stock exchanges on matters concerning securities markets. He represented various clients in over 100 cases before the High Courts and over 200 cases before the Honorable Supreme Court. He was also consulted by the World Bank on the establishment of dedicated highway fund and for drafting its enabling legislation.
Previously, he has worked as a Senior Associate at Hassan & Hassan (Advocates), Lahore. He has also worked as Legal Consultant and Additional Deputy Prosecutor General (Corporate Affairs), National Accountability Bureau, Lahore where he used to advice on white collar crimes and anti-money laundering measures.
He has been a visiting lecturer of business law at the Punjab College of Business Administration, Company Law, Punjab Law College, Administrative Law, Punjab University Law College, Criminal Law, Pak-AIMS, and Media Law, Kinnaird College for Women.
He graduated from the Government College University, Lahore and did his LLB (Hons.) from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. He was called to the Bar by the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London in 1995. He is also a registered practitioner at the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts.
